Better late than never Australia to Canada - Week1

Well the theory was that this (blog) was going to be a regular (almost daily) occurrance oh well as Robbie Burns is reputed to have said “The best plans of men and mice often go awry” and I guess my plans went awry but never mind the trip has been a lot of fun...

So what happened over the past 6 weeks. I guess 'plenty' pretty well sums it up. The planned departure went sort of as planned and after many times standing on the bathroom scales and checking the weight we headed to Sydney for our last night in Australia for a year.

What to do on your last night in Sydney?? Go to the Pub of course!! Around the corner and up the hill Jeff took Greg, Julie and I to a great pub with a great counter meal. Ian calling around to Jeff's was an added surprise. A nice final Aussie night.

Early the next morning we put ourselves in the hands of the good people at Air Korea and we were away. The idea of telling the airline of my disability was in part to assist in the transfer at Inchon Airport which were told was a very large airport. We weren't disappointed with the size, it was HUGE and I was glad to be transported on a high speed luggage cart which was driven by someone who I think may have been auditioning for a part in an upcoming Fawlty Towers Travel Movie...

However we did survive the baggage cart, Inchon Airport and the flight and arrived unscathed in Toronto.

Luckily for us we sent an Aussie forward scout and we were collected at the airport hotel we used to recover from the 22 hours in the air by Melissa. Nice to be met by someone who spoke the local language and who was able to call on expert advice from a local (Michelle). With the help of the ubiquitious navman we were able to make our way to what will be home for 2011 i.e. 460 Sarah St Nth, Gravenhurst P1P 1G1.

First timer

Well this is a first of what may be many posts during our year in Canada.

After a long, long flight with a 3 hour stopover in Korea (Inchon is a huge Airport) Julie and I were deposited at Lester B Pearson Airport in Toronto. As luck would have it our daughter is in Canada and was able to collect us and deposit us at what will be our home for 2011.

Now for the fun part.... more to follow
